Online Submission Process

Process for submitting course assignments.

  • If submitting more than file, please be sure to submit a zip or tar file instead.
  • Only if all other options fail, you may submit your work by email to the TA or the instructor as a last resort.

Submission of Projects

  1. Your complete project is assumed to reside in a folder called, for example, myproj, usually somewhere in your home folder. For programming projects, this folder should include:
    • sources
    • compiled code
    • documentation
    • data files (if applicable)
    • list of group members (if applicable)
  2. Change to the parent folder containing myproj.
  3. Create a zip file from myproj called myproj.zip.
  4. Upload myproj.zip to the the Assignments section in Blackboard corresponding to the course you are taking and the project you are submitting. (If there is no corresponding item in the Assignments section, please upload hw.ext to the Digital Dropbox for your course.)

You may resubmit your project until the given deadline.

In case this is a group project and you are working with one or more partners, submit the file only once under the name of the contact person in the group. Make sure to include the email addresses and full names of all group members, including yourself, in a file called group.txt in the project folder before creating the zip file.

Homework

The procedure for submitting written homework assignments is identical to the one for submitting projects, except:

  • Your homework assignment is assumed to be contained in a single file called, for example, hw.ext, where ext is an appropriate extension depending on the document format. Typical extensions are html for (X)HTML, pdf for Adobe Portable Document Format, and txt for ASCII text.
  • This file should contain information about your full name.
  • Upload hw.ext to the Assignments section in Blackboard corresponding to the course you are taking and the project you are submitting. (If there is no corresponding item in the Assignments section, please upload hw.ext to the Digital Dropbox for your course.)

Accepted Formats

Accepted document formats for project documentation and homework are:

  • javadoc (required for Java sources)
  • (X)HTML
  • PDF (usually preferred)
  • ASCII text
  • Writely or other web-based authoring tool
